P for Pressure
I'm literally walking down Agakhan Street and this guy is fast approaching me..I continue to walk brisk cus I really don't know what he's up to, maybe he's headed somewhere..he looks like these marketing guys.. he's in a navy blue pair of pants and a knitted sweater. I can't help but notice his very expensive looking pair of glasses (huyu ako na insurance anapeleka pale optica) anyways, he catches up and says hi..'Hi, I'm Mike (not his real name) and I'd love to have your number. I contemplate whether or not I wanna give him but then I remember my mum is subtly asking for 'people'. Okay, no worries.. I read it out to him, and he dials to confirm. Wasichana huku Nairobi ni wakora Sana! I am not about to take out my phone, so I tell him (yes, nimeskia)..He seems hesitant and I am tempted to give him my Airtel number but it's saved Brenda pishori on trucaller (eew)..
He doesn't intiate any kind of small talk which I appreciate but I can see that he is really wondering why I didn't take out my phone to save his number. I explain to him calmly that this is Nairobi and I'm not sure whether or not he's going to snatch my phone. "I appreciate the honesty" and off he goes..
He's tall and slender, just the way I like them but I think if he was short or chubby I'd have still given him my number (with the hope of him calling) I've been so comfortable in my singlehood, until recently. I know thirty is literally just around the corner but I've never had any pressure.. maybe because I've been dealing with something or I just don't care. I was comfortable knowing that my parents are okay with me taking my time until I learnt that even my little brother is wondering why I am not married. Bruv, can y'all relax!
Well for context, the 14yr old was advising his 19yr old friend telling her that when she goes to uni she shouldn't rush into anything. Mandem goes ahead and straight up tells her, 'ata Brenda wetu bado hajaolewa ' ouch!!
(I was writing this on June 16th, in a restaurant having a bowl of fruit salad) it was my friends bday and it was going down that night) Now, drama literally found me there, busy having my salad and interrupted me!
Three months later here we are, train of thought completely lost and I cannot remember what I wanted to write!!
Cheers 🥂
